is proud to announce that Sony Music will release the official albums
for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan¢â, which will feature
tracks from artists representing numerous countries that have qualified
for the final stages of the FIFA World Cup. This of course includes
superstars from the host nations, Korea and Japan. So just like on
the pitch, there will be a wide variety of styles to savour.
Highlights of the official international album include "Boom,"
the official song of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which was written
by Glen Ballard and Sony Music Entertainment artist Anastacia as
a homage to the excitement, energy and power of the FIFA World Cup.
As performed by Anastacia, "Boom" is the perfect rallying
cry for football fans the world over - here at FIFAworldcup.com
we are sure that this fantastic song will be a hit with fans regardless
of whether their team wins or loses.
Anastacia's critically acclaimed debut album, "Not That Kind",
has made the Top 10 Album Charts around the world, earning gold,
platinum and multi-platinum sales status in more than a dozen countries
and selling over 5 million copies worldwide. Anastacia's second
album, Freak of Nature, was released internationally in November
of 2001.
Also included on the official album for The 2002 FIFA World Cup
will be the Official Anthem of the FIFA World Cup, which was composed
by Sony Classical artist Vangelis.
Vangelis began composing and performing as a child, and later earned
renown as a composer of film scores including compositions for "Salut
Jerusalem," the Oscar winning "Chariots of Fire,"
and "Blade Runner." Other Vangelis compositions include
his just realeased Sony Clasical album, "mythodea - music for
the NASA mission: 2001 Mars Odyssey",scores for Roger Donaldson's
"The Bounty," Liliana Cavani's "Francesco,"
and Roman Polanski's "Bitter Moon."
