| The 20th Secretaries General Meeting for the Korea-Japan Organizing Committees for the 2002 FIFA World CupTM To Be Held in Tokyo |
Mr. Moon Dong-hoo, Secretary General of the Korea Organizing Committee for the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/JapanTM, is participating in the 20th (and final) meeting of the Secretaries General for the Korea-Japan Organizing Committees. The meeting is scheduled to be held in Tokyo at 18:00 on July 12 (Fri.).
A general appraisal of the Games, which were completed successfully on June 30, is planned for the meeting. Also on the agenda is a detailed discussion of countermeasures to address the problem of unoccupied seats during the Games, as related to mistakes made by FIFA’s sponsoring agent. This year’s event was the first World Cup Games ever to be held in Asia.
The meetings of the Secretaries General have so far been held every two months in one host city after another in the two countries for exchange of relevant information and discussions about major concerns of the co-hosts at the highest level of the Organizing Committees. The meetings on twenty occasions have been instrumental in successfully carrying out the Games in close cooperation between the two countries.
