Because of its size, Busan, the nation¡¯s best-known port, is considered
Korea¡¯s second capital. An international metropolis of 4 million,
Busan is the host city of the 2002 FIFA World CupTM and
the 14th Asian Games in 2002. The city boasts a deep port with minimal
tidal differentials. Due to its geographical advantage and modern
port facilities, Busan Port ranks third in the world in terms of
the quantity of goods transported in and out. Every summer, Busan
swarms with vacationers from all over the country who visit Gwangalli
and Haeundae Beaches, located near the downtown area. Visitors to
Busan can enjoy such water sports as water skiing, boating and wind
surfing as well as the diverse festivals and events held all year
round.
A total of 64 matches will be held throughout Korea and Japan, 32
in each country. In the first round, 32 teams are divided into 4
groups and each group has 8 teams. The teams compete on a round-robin
basis, and the top two seeds of each group advance to the Round
of 16.
Matches from the round of 16 to the final match will be completed
on a knock-out basis. The opening and third place matches will be
held in Seoul and Daegu, respectively, while the final match will
be held in Yokohama.
